Contents

A new structure for the Third Division Football Tournament was introduced for the 2015 season.

Structure

Changes were brought to the third division league structure 23 December 2014, by the FAM's FIFA normalizing committee.

According to the new structure, the third division consists of basic two groups of Zones. Zone 1—8 and Zone 9. Zone 1—8 includes clubs from all atolls of the Maldives. Zone 9 is again split into two groups where clubs from Male' will compete in the Zone 9 group 1. Offices and companies' recreation clubs are competing in the Zone 9 group 2.

Each Zone plays a Zone tournament (Zone 9 will play separate two tournaments for Male' and recreation clubs) and the champion clubs of each Zone will be qualified for the final round, which is also referred as Male' round. The final round consists of 10 clubs where they are divided into two groups of five. Each club plays against the other clubs in the group once and the top two clubs of each group is advanced into the semi finals. Winners of the semi final who are advanced to the Third division final will be promoted to the next season's Second Division Football Tournament.
