The Maida–Windygates Border Crossing connects the cities of Langdon, North Dakota and Morden, Manitoba on the Canada–US border. Although Windygates seems like the perfect name for a border station in the Great Plains, it was apparently named after a village in Scotland, and it did not have a gate prior to 2002. Although the unincorporated community of Maida was established in 1884, it never grew substantially; however it still maintains its own zip code.

The US border station of Maida, which was built in 1961, was replaced in 2012. The Windygates border station was built in 1963, and is slated to be replaced in 2017.
