Maicobi is a village in Potaro-Siparuni, Guyana, on the right bank of the Potaro River near Tumatumari.

Demographics

The population of the village is 75 (1994 figure) in about 30 households (2002 figure). The inhabitants are all Amerindians including members of the Macchusi, Carib and Patamona tribes, who have maintained much of their culture without any racial integration.

Administration

Maicobi is managed by a Village Captain, a Vice Captain and five councilors.

Economy

The main economic activities are subsistence farming and the production of legumes for sale in neighbouring communities.

Facilities

The village has two shops and a primary school.

Transport

Access to the village is via the Potaro River.
