Mae Flexer is a member of the Connecticut Senate representing the state's 29th district, which includes the towns of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Killingly, Mansfield, Putnam, Scotland, Thompson, and Windham. A Democrat, Flexer previously served three terms in the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the state's 44th assembly district.

Biography

Flexer has lived in Killingly for almost her entire life. Flexer graduated from Killingly High School, and then went on to earn a degree from Quinebaug Valley Community College. She also completed her BA at the University of Connecticut in Political Science.

Flexer joined her Democratic Town Committee when she was 18. At 23 she was the youngest person in the state ever elected Town Committee Chairwoman.

Before returning to UConn to pursue a Masters Degree, Flexer worked three years for Senate President Donald E. Williams, Jr. as his legislative aide.
She was elected a state representative in 2008, defeating Republican Angeline Kwasny by 3,136 votes. She is currently one of the youngest state senators in Connecticut.
