Macroglossum nycteris is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is found from Afghanistan, east around the southern margin of the Himalaya to northern Myanmar, then north-east through China as far as Beijing and Shandong. It is absent from tropical south-east Asia, including lowland south-eastern China.

The wingspan is 40–48 mm. The abdomen has maize-yellow lateral patches and the hindwing upperside has a maize-yellow band.

Larvae have been recorded feeding on Galium species and Rubia cordifolia.
