History

In 2008, Jon Ian, long time wrestling ring announcer and creative team member for several organizations, created Mach One Wrestling as an associate of NWA Pro Wrestling. Promoting events throughout Orange County, M1W quickly became one of the most successful promotions in the area. In 2009 M1W opened a training school in Anaheim, CA with Joey Ryan as head trainer. They also began hosting weekly Friday Fight Night events at the school.

Highlights

The first M1W event took place on June 1, 2008 at Santa Ana High School in Santa Ana, California. The event featured a defense of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship by Adam Pearce. Pearce, with his manager C. Edward Vander Pyle, narrowly defeated TJ Perkins to retain the title. Despite the loss, Perkins went on to the main event to win a Battle Royal to claim the NWA Heritage Championship, ironically left vacant when Pearce became World Champion.

In addition to future defenses of the NWA Heritage Championship, M1W wrestling also hosted a successful defense by Los Luchas of the NWA World Tag Team Championship against the Cutler Brothers on August 2, 2008 at Santa Ana High School.

M1W ran an event in conjunction with the Long Beach Comic-Con that included a double main event of Joey Ryan facing Scotty 2 Hotty and James Morgan defending the M1W Championship against Paul London. Ryan, with assistance from Vander Pyle, defeated Scotty 2 Hotty then attacked Morgan after he upset London to retain the title. After London came to Morgan’s aid, Scotty 2 Hotty gave his signature W.O.R.M. to both Ryan and Vander Pyle.

The Mach One Wrestling school’s Wrestling 101 has featured several guest speakers and trainers including Terry Taylor, Frankie Kazarian, Paul London, Brian Kendrick and Ryan Sakoda. Additionally, the school hosted a seminar by Chris Hero in January 2010.

The M1W Tag Team Championships later became the NWA Heritage Tag Team Championships but after Championship Wrestling From Hollywood parted ways with the National Wrestling Alliance they renamed the titles.
