History

The Stena Lagan was built in July 2005 as the Lagan Viking, entering service with Norse Merchant Ferries later the same month. A few months later, Norse Merchant Ferries was acquired by Norfolkline.

In July 2010 Norfolkline was acquired by DFDS. The vessel was renamed Lagan Seaways during her refit in August 2010. Later that same year, DFDS sold its Northern Irish operations to Stena Line. The sale included the Belfast–Birkenhead route and the chartered Mersey Seaways. In August 2011 the vessel was renamed Stena Lagan

Route

Stena Lagan operates on the Birkenhead–Belfast route with sister ship Stena Mersey. This route is invaluable to drivers, as it saves them driving through Scotland on poor single-carriageway roads and behind a great number of freight vehicles. In all, the total journey time on board the ship is 8 hours.

On board

The ship has recently been refurbished and offers shop, cinema, restaurant, bar, POD Lounge, Stena Plus Lounge and four-berth en-suite cabins.
