Early life

Born in 1988, Aremo grew up in Ikeja, Lagos state. He attended Bisbon Nursery and Primary School before enrolling in the missionary Anwar-ul-Islam Model college. He would later attend the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy and also a diploma in Information Technology.

Growing up, Aremo was a huge fan of both Snoop Dogg and Notorious B.I.G, and he used to dub records from his favorite rappers on cassette and later penned down the lyrics in order to rap along whilst listening later.

Music career

Aremo started music professionally in 2004 with the stage name Skill and recorded several singles which never topped the charts or had an impact in the music industry, leading him to take a long break where he focused on the teachings of Hip-Hop's master teacher KRS-One hence completing his metamorphosis from a rapper to an emcee and making his return back to the scene officially in 2010.

Now heavily influenced by KRS-One, ThaPreacha, as he was now known released three singles that paved way for him in the Hip Hop community in December 2010 and in February 2011, He followed these up with his debut 17-track mixtape titled Metaphysical Induction with guest artists like Synik from Zimbabwe, Wale and Jetlag from Texas, USA, amongst others. "

The feedback from the first mixtape hosted by Veteran producer Stormatique prompted the emcee to record yet another mixtape in 2012 titled Get Dope Or Die Wack. " This 16-track mixtape also hosted by Stormatique got the attention of American DJ DJ Green Lantern and it featured Mista Dry Gin from the UK, Ms.chief, Protek, Rez ThaPoet etc and few months later, he worked with United States based Nigerian Singer Kenny Kay on the international award-winning single Nigerian Girl "

In February 2013, Aremo teamed up with PH-City Emcee MC Magic Man to put out a 10-track Boombap EP titled Project-X. Some young fans would refer to this EP as the blueprint of lyricism in Nigeria. The project which was hosted by Stormatique, Teck-Zilla of Str8buttah & M.P featured Nigerian Hip-Hop legend Mode 9 and also veteran emcee Psalmurai. "

In May 2013, MCskill got back into the studio with Stormatique and in June, he released his fourth project titled Free Throws which had lead singles like Tribute To Modenine, The Message 2013 and Metamorphosis. Free Throws featured numerous guest artistes like British-Born Nigerian Female Emcee Aina More, Lord V, Cyrus Tha Virus, Fecko etc. ”.

After promising to release an LP titled Diary of a Supernatural in June 2014, Supernatural as the rapper is now nicknamed was quiet for almost all of 2014 but he did make a song to support the Bring Back Our Girls campaign in May before making a return in November with his fifth project in three years. Free Throws 2 which represents a volume 2 to the earlier Free Throws was released instead of the DOASLP but the emcee who is now heavily affiliated with the Temple of Hip Hop managed to please his fans and critics by featuring Nigerian Hip-Hop legends Weird MC and Terry ThaRapman amongst others on his fifth project. ". Master Volume Productions and MCskill ThaPreacha announced on January 6, 2015 via Twitter that the sixth project titled The Season EP which is a collaborative work with ace producer Stormatique will be released in late February. The lead single off that project The Season Ft. DJ Teck-Zilla was playlisted on the Planet Earth Planet Rap radio segment of Chuck D's AndYouDontStop radio show (Hosted by MikKo Kapanen and Amkelwa Mbekeni) on February 19, 2015. "

The Season EP was released on March 11 and it featured Desire Nobility from The Temple of Hip Hop, Khaligraph Jones from Kenya, Boogey and several others.

In October 2015, the first official single off the Diary Of A Supernatural LP titled Stay Shining featured new rap artiste Sigrin Royce and was premiered on Hotnewhiphop. "

The emcee in recent times has been given shoutouts by DJ Green Lantern, Big Daddy Kane, Weird MC, Mode 9, Desire Nobility etc.

Controversy

MCskill ThaPreacha made the headlines for controversial reasons in late 2012 after the public feud with rappers Vector (musician) and A-Q which led to series of diss tracks been thrown back and forth. ". This had fans and rap veterans like illbliss and Mode 9 calling for a truce between these rappers. The beef soon ended afterwards and exactly one year later, MCskill and A-Q agreed to work on a record titled PEACE only for rapper A-Q to make a U-turn and diss MCskill on his own record. ". This led to another public spat and both rappers are currently not on talking terms.

Rapping Technique

Over the years, MCskill has been able to switch styles depending on which instrumental he is rhyming on and just like his mentor KRS-One, he has also been able to infuse the Jamaican Zunguzung style into his music. His 2013 release Don't Kill A Rapper (Unofficial Remix) Featuring KRS-One shows why his style is very similar to that of the blastmaster. ".
