M. Patrick Carroll (born September 19, 1979) is the founder and CEO of Carroll Organization, an Atlanta based real estate investment company. As CEO, he employs a hands-on approach to drive Carroll’s overall strategic planning and to build upon the company’s existing platforms. Continually leveraging his diverse real estate investment and asset management expertise, as well as overall industry knowledge, M. Patrick Carroll leads a team of multifamily professionals in the expansion of an organization that has seen incredible growth. Founded in 2004 with initial investments in Georgia and Florida, an aggressive acquisition strategy led very quickly to the national growth of Carroll Organization. As of 2016, the company has purchased, developed, or sold over $3.5 billion in real estate.

Early life and education

M. Patrick Carroll was born in 1979 in Richmond, Virginia. He grew up in Tampa, Florida and graduated from Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida in 1998. He continues to be an active supporter of Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida.

M. Patrick Carroll is an active supporter of Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida, Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, Habitat for Humanity, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Additionally, he is currently a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, and the Urban Land Institute.

Career

M. Patrick Carroll started his real estate investment and development career in December 2004, forming Carroll Organization and investing in residential properties in Georgia and Florida. Following these initial investments, M. Patrick Carroll developed several residential communities in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. With the success of those residential developments, he turned his focus to commercial real estate development and investment, successfully developing a retail shopping center, a mixed use property and student housing. In 2008, M. Patrick Carroll successfully sold his development projects. In 2009, in an effort to build Carroll Organization's fully integrated Multifamily Platform, M. Patrick Carroll acquired three property management companies. Since 2011, Carroll Organization has acquired over $3 Billion of Multifamily Properties and successfully exited $1 Billion of investments.

Personal life

M. Patrick Carroll was a clothing manufacturer’s rep early in his career before deciding to delve into the real estate business. He formed Carroll Organization in 2004. Initially, he focused on buying and selling single family homes and then building single family homes.

M. Patrick Carroll ventured into the development of student housing in 2006. He then acquired Affordable Realty Management (5000 unit management company) in 2009. In 2010, he grew Carroll organization significantly by acquiring Hediger Enterprises (9,000 unit management company), as well as by acquiring Miles Properties Management Company (8,000 units) out of bankruptcy that same year. As of 2016, he has since acquired more than 20,000 units (in partnership with Institutional Capital).

He is married to Lindsey Truex, and they have 3 children: Jack, Kyle, and David.
