SwapnaVyaparam: A Path-breaker in Malayalam Literature

‘SwapnaVyaparam’ is possibly the first-of-its-kind “business novel” to appear in the domain of Malayalam literature.M S Faizal Khan, the author of this new genre, is a 34 year old entrepreneur who is currently the Pro Chancellor of Noorul Islam University in Kanyakumari and the Managing Director of NIMS Medicityin Trivandrum.

The story revolves around Girish Narayanan, a Mumbai-dweller from Kerala, and his transformation from a working-class person into a successful businessman. Deviating from a traditional rags-to-riches story, the author also delves into the psychological underpinnings and ethical issues associated with bringing up a business. The book is written in a simple and lucid format and the content is both entertaining and educative, filled with practical insights. The genre of “business novel” is an immensely relevant but largely unexplored area as far as Malayalam literature is concerned. ‘SwapnaVyaparam’ is a trailblazer in this regard, having the potentially instigate a newfound interest in this niche, but highly relevant topics. The book was published by Mathrbhumi books and was released on September 1st by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
