Lykay has been recognized as one of the greatest Ghanaian hip-hop metaphorical rappers and in 2016, he did a spoken-word/rap poetry at the ChaleWote Music Festival
with Blvck Gods in 'Trotro Vibes which attracted so much recognition.
In 2016 harmattangh.com, a blog well versed in issues of Ghanaian Hip hop described Lykay as "a rapper with lyrical superiority". In 2015, www.trendybloggh.com in

Early life
He's the 2nd child of Gifty Mensah & Partick Tawiah (Deceased). Who were both gospel singers during the times of Professor Kofi Abraham. He attended Koforidua Sec. Tech.

Career
In 2012, he started recording mixtapes with his neighbourhood MC's like Mega (both known as Main Effect), King Kosovo, Black & DJ Busty Blaze. Which they produced classic
tracks like Tsunami & The Street Culture. Rapping to the beats of 9th Wonder. Since 2014, he has been working on his solo career and he released an EP in 2015 named Vintage
EP which gave him a lot of recognition from music critics and all the critique are all in the forward direction. Lykay has a catchy baritone, velvet voice & a very distinctive sound.
Sometimes soulful like sounds of Apollo Brown, 9th Wonder & DJ Juls (who he idolizes). Sometimes
with that boom-bap sound. He's also very experimental: sometimes raps on highlife, Afrobeats & Electronic. He was cosigned by Okyeame Kwame in an instragram video
which the veteran rapper asked him to freestyle. He released his much anticipated EP dubbed Deity on 7th November 2016.
