History
Before 1938, 60% of the 2 522 inhabitants were Jewish, around 300 families. In June 1941, the German army occupied the village. From October 1941 to November 1942, Jews were kept imprisoned in a ghetto. Many died in the ghetto and in mass executions perpetrated by an Einsatzgruppen.
