Kampa was born in Bochum, Germany as son of Ulrich Kampa - a former volleyball player. He has a sister and a brother David, who is also a volleyball player.

Career

For the Germany national team, he had a very good tournament in the 2012 Olympic Qualification tournament. In 2012/13 he was part of a dynamic duo with Georg Grozer in Belgorod and became a Russian Cup winner. In 2014 he signed a contract with Polish club Cerrad Czarni Radom.
