The brand was created by climber Greg Lowe in 1967, brother and climbing partner of noted first ascensionist and early advocate of Alpine style climbing Jeff Lowe. He created an innovative internal framed backpack. Later Lowe Alpine innovations include Triplepoint Ceramic waterproof and breathable fabric and Advanced Paralux System (APS) back systems and more recently their TFX back system.
