Lopez High School Lobo Band Official Website
The Lopez Lobo Band has always had a record of receiving a Division 1 for the annual UIL Region 28 Marching Contest.
The Lopez Symphonic (Varsity) Band enjoys a distinguished past, experiencing success from its very first year of existence. Division 1 ratings (Sweepstakes) have been awarded to the Symphonic (Varsity) Band every year at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest. In the spring of 1995, the ensemble placed 1st Runner-Up, Class AAAA, in its first submission for TMEA Honor Band Competition. Lopez placed 1st Runner-Up in the next three submission years before winning 1st Place In the 2003 TMEA Honor Band Competition. The school moved to Class AAAAA in 2007 and, in its first year of competition, placed 11th at the TMEA 5A Honor Band Contest. In 2010, the Symphonic (Varsity) Band improved to 5th place at the TMEA AAAAA State Honor Band hearing, placed in 6th place at the 2012 TMEA AAAAA State Honor Band Contest, and placed in 6th place once again at the 2014 AAAAAA State Honor Band Contest. This success is unmatched by any other school in the Rio Grande Valley, as the Lopez Symphonic Band has advanced to the state level of the Honor Band Competition on every submission. Starting in the 2014 fall school year, the band moved up to Class AAAAAA, beginning with a State Marching Contest cycle. In July, the band was named the 2017 TMEA AAAAAA Honor Band (the very first 6A honor band).
The Concert (Non-Varsity) Band has also been awarded a Division 1 rating (Sweepstakes) in both sight reading and concert portions at every UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest attended.
