History

London & Country Mortgages was established by Chase de Vere Investments in 1987. Prior to being called London & Country Mortgages it was called Lincoln's Inn Mortgages.

The business originally dealt with the mortgage requirements of investment clients but didn’t really start to develop until 1992 when Phillip Cartwright was recruited to manage Chase de Vere's mortgage business through London & Country.

The company is located at Beazer House, Lower Bristol Road, Bath, Somerset BA2 3BA and in January 2015 opened an office in Lombard Street in the City of London. London & Country also has an office in Newcastle upon Tyne, which it opened in October 2012.

In October 2015, London & Country Mortgages announced plans to integrate the UnderwriteMe comparison service into its sales teams, in order to use the system when offering protection to clients.

In March 2016, letting and sales franchise firm, The Property Franchise Group, launched a financial services arm in partnership with London & Country Mortgages and the multinational financial services company Legal & General. In 2016, London & Country was named Mortgage Broker of the Year at the Mortgage Strategy Awards 2016.

Operations

The company compares mortgages from over 80 lenders and assists homebuyers and those looking to remortgage through the mortgage process. It also advises on life and home insurance products.
