Distribution

This species is found in the Caribbean Sea along the Isla Margarita, Venezuela, found at depths up to 29 m.

Description

The maximum recorded shell length is 93 mm. It differs from Lobatus raninus in these characteristics :

  • the alation (wing-like outer lip) ends in a single extended lobe (rather than two) beyond the height of the spire
  • the shell shows twelve nodules (a swollen knob-like structure) instead of two
  • the aperture is yellowish white (instead of red or blue)
  • Habitat

    Minimum recorded depth is 18 m. Maximum recorded depth is 27 m.
