The Littlewoods Pools building is a notable building on Edge Lane in Liverpool. Built in 1938, the building is a listed example and is next to the Wavertree Botanic Gardens.

History

The building has had various uses throughout its life. During World War II, it facilitated the manufacture of barrage balloons and woollen material. In the 1940s, throughout the war, the building was continued to be used by Unity Pools (formed from Littlewoods, Zetters and Vernons).

Regeneration

In March 2013, a regeneration scheme for the site at Edge Lane was unanimously approved by the planners. Put forward by North West developers, Capital & Centric the new development comprises a hotel, high tech offices and shops. It as heard that the clock tower would be retained as well as the attractive Art Deco styling.
