This episode is based on the true story of a girl who died among others in a circus fire in Hartford, Connecticut in 1944, and was the only body not to be claimed.

Plot

After staying late at city hall to research his family records, Paul takes a bus home, a different bus then he usually takes. He examines all the passengers around him before exiting the bus. Once off the bus, he sees a little girl staring at him through the window. This little girl had not been on the bus earlier. After the girl mouths a single word to Paul, the bus continues on its way. A few seconds later, the bus explodes, and Paul is knocked unconscious.

In the hospital, Paul sees a television news report on the Boston at San Antonio basketball finals. As the camera pans over the crowd, Paul notices the same little girl that was on the bus. She once again mouths the same single word at the screen. After asking the television station for the tape, he re-watches the tape to see that this girl is not present.

Paul later hears that the roof of the dome in which these basketball finals was held collapsed, and several people were killed or injured. Only one body was unclaimed, and as Paul suspected, it is the girl he keeps seeing, just before these disasters occur.

Sodalitas Quaerito researches this girl, who has been spotted in many countries, and who is known in many countries as some variation of the English translation "Little Miss Lost". She has been spotted at the site of many disasters, just before they occur, and her death is usually caused by blunt force trauma. This girl is also frequently the one body that is never claimed from each of these tragedies. They come to the conclusion that this little girl is the cause of these disasters

While at a graveyard, Paul once again sees this little girl. He finally hears the word she has been telling him, "Why". However, her presence triggers a gang shooting, and Evelyn is shot in the leg. SQ later learns that this little girl, Amelia, has not been asking a question, "Why?", but has been trying to tell Paul her last name, "Wye". Paul, Alva, and Evelyn track down her mother, who tells them of the night Amelia died. She was trampled to death in a circus fire back in 1944. He body was never claimed. Amelia's mother claims Amelia's body after sixty years, and she, along with Paul, Alva, and Evelyn, finally lay her to rest.

Late at night, the ghost of Tommy Ferguson enters Paul's apartment. He tells him "Help us...it's real." Paul asks him if he is referring to the darkness. Tommy says "It wants...everything."
