History
Prior to 1990, the governor and lieutenant governor were elected in separate elections; since then they have run together on the same ticket.
Living former U.S. Lieutenant Governors of Iowa
As of January 2015, there are nine former U.S. lieutenant governors of Iowa who are currently living at this time, the oldest U.S. lieutenant governor of Iowa being Edward J. McManus (served 1959–1961, born 1920). The most recent death of a former U.S. lieutenant governor of Iowa was that of Arthur A. Neu (served 1973–1979, born 1933), on January 2, 2015.
