All-time leaders
On April 2, 2016, Carol Hutchins of Michigan became the all-time NCAA Division 1 wins leader by recording her 1,458th victory. As an active coach, "Hutch" sees her career win total continues to climb as she leads Michigan.
Hutchins passed Margie Wright, who was a head coach from 1980 to 2012 at Illinois State and later Fresno State, with 1,457 career wins. Phil McSpadden, who has coached exclusively at the NAIA level, is the all-time leader across all divisions with 1,550 wins for the Oklahoma City Stars.
Mike Candrea has the most NCAA Division 1 National Titles among coaches at 8 (1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2006, and 2007).
Margo F. Jonker of Central Michigan holds the record for most losses as a head softball coach with 712.
Clint Myers, who has coach at three different schools, has the highest career winning percentage (.852) among coaches with at least 900 wins.
Among the coaches with 900 career wins, the record for most seasons as a head softball coach is held by Judy Groff, who compiled a 973-630 record in 43 years (1960-2011) at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
