She began her journalism career, in 1969, at the suggestion of now-husband Richard Robinson, who asked her to take over a column he wrote for a British paper. Robinson wrote for a variety of publications, including Creem, the New York Post, and the New Musical Express. She covered various popular artists and bands, including the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, U2, David Bowie, Chrissie Hynde, The Clash, The Who, and Patti Smith.
