One river gallery in the studio with lisa corinne davis
Lisa Corinne Davis is an American visual artist who is known for her intricate map-like paintings. Her paintings occupy a point somewhere between cartooning and cartography, abstraction and figuration. Her work is an exploration of racial, social, and psychological identity, and through the development of her painting lexicon she expresses her personal experience as an African-American woman in the 21st Century, and, by extension, that of an individual in modern society. The images are oddly familiar but essentially ephemeral, visually resonant but also deliberately enigmatic.
