Overview

Founded in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2006, Lingotek is best known for pioneering the first cloud-based translation management system (TMS). Lingotek is a privately held, high growth company that is venture-backed by Signal Peak and In-Q-Tel.

Partnerships

In 2008, Lingotek released "Lingotek-Inside," a product created in partnership with content management service providers such as Drupal, Oracle, and SharePoint, to develop machine, community and professional translation services for content inside widely used enterprise applications. “Lingotek – Inside” can be integrated to many platforms, allowing for on-demand translation of websites, software, and other media.

In January 2015, Lingotek partnered with Lingoport to offer software localization solution.

Software

Lingotek’s most notable product, a cloud-based translation management system (TMS), is accessible online and gives users the ability to upload/download translatable documents and multilingual content. Once uploaded, users are able to translate and review the documents through the creation of customizable workflows. The Lingotek TMS offers full-featured project, TM and terminology management, including an online CAT tool.

Project managers can view progress, by document or project, via the TMS’s dashboard tools. Project managers can make assignments to specific translators or teams of translators for a specific document, language or project. Lingotek also offers the ability to crowdsource translations. With this option community members are able to propose translations and vote on each other’s translations to ensure all content is translated accurately for each language.

Projects

Major translation projects include the Library of Congress’ metadata translation for the World Digital Library, Project Matsu (in collaboration with NASA) coordinating disaster relief efforts in post-earthquake Haiti, and the National Science Foundation’s CluE project for research sponsorship.

Recognition

Lingotek was an Edison Award Finalist (2015) and Edison Award Nominee (2014), a Gartner Cool Vendor of the Year (2012), and received the Stevie Award for Best New Product or Service of the Year – Software as a Service (2010).
