Lindsey Dryden (born 1982) is an award-winning British director and producer of feature and short films.

Early life

Dryden was born in Gloucestershire, England. She learned to play piano as a child from her father. She studied at Goldsmiths, University of London, receiving a First Class degree. Dryden has been mentored by The National Film & Television School and Women In Film & Television.

Career

After graduation, Dryden worked on television documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4, The History Channel, Current TV and others.

Dryden has directed and produced a number of films that have screened at various international festivals, including SXSW, True/False, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Open City Docs, Napa Valley Film Festival, DocsDF, Hong Kong Deaf Film Festival and at New York's Lincoln Center and the British Film Institute.

She has spoken on panels and hosted seminars at Sheffield Doc/Fest and Women In Film & Television.

In 2012, Dryden was nominated for 'Best New UK Filmmaker' (London Open City Docs) and 'Best Female-Directed Film' (Sheffield Doc/Fest) for her feature documentary Lost and Sound. This film, about three people whose livelihoods depend on music, yet are dealing with hearing loss, premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, screened at the ReelAbilities film festival in New York and the Napa Valley Film Festival.

In 2013, she was nominated for Best Producer at Underwire, a festival celebrating female filmmakers, for short documentary Little Ones (directed by Joanna Coates). The film was developed as part of the London Borough Film Fund Challenge.

She produced the documentary feature Unrest which will premiere in competition at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
