Life and career

Townley was brought up in Hackney. From 2009 - 2011, Townley worked as head of marketing and publicity at Stringfellows in Soho and wrote about his experiences in an autobiography ‘The Hunger’ which he claims to be a kind of therapy that helped him get clean. More than 170 paintings were produced by Townley during that period of time. Townley is quoted in The Independent newspaper as saying “An addict is always an addict. You’re just a sober addict if you’re not on drugs”.
Exhibitions

Townley's debut exhibition consisted of a collection of 40 paintings, followed up by a solo show of 28 pieces at Hilton's Doubletree Manchester Other exhibitions of his works are held at the Marriott Hotel, situate in the heart of London's financial sector entitled 'The Banker Collection'. Consisting of 5 works, Lincoln is referenced in The Wharf newspaper as saying "the bankers in my collection are possessed by an insatiable need for more. They may start feeling they are running the show but by the end, the show is running them."
Philosophy

In December 2014, Lincoln unveiled his portrait of English comedian and actor Russell Brand. The painting consists of oil, acrylics and mixed media on canvas and raised funds for the charity 'The Abstinence Based Recovery Trust' of which Brand and Townley are Patrons. A collection of portraits followed as Townley painted Charlie Sheen. When shown the painting, Sheen remarked in The Independent that "Townley has captured the essence of what it is to live with addiction and he is able to do this because he has his own story of addiction and recovery".
