Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre is a private hospital located in Bandra in Mumbai, India. The hospital was established in 1978 by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust. The current team of trustees running the facility includes Prabodh Kirtilal Mehta, Chetan Prabodh Mehta, Rashmi Kirtilal Mehta, Rekha Haresh Sheth, Sushila Vijay Mehta, Charu Kishor Mehta, Niket Vijay Mehta, Bhavin Rashmi Mehta, Nanik Rupani, S. The Lilavati Hospital has been awarded several awards and accreditations, such as the ‘Best Multi Speciality Hospital in Metro’ by ICICI Lombard & CNBC TV 18 in ‘India Healthcare Awards 2012’ held in New Delhi.

History
Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta established the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust in 1978 in memory of his late wife, Smt. Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta. The trust has been managed, controlled, and administered by Mehta family members: Prabodh Kirtilal Mehta, Rashmi Mehta, and Chetan Prabodh Mehta, who also have been engaged in other innumerable charitable endeavors in different segments of India. Fondly known as Bapaji and founder of Lilavati Hospital and Research Center Mumbai, the late Shri Kirtilal Mehta also pioneered the entry of the Indian community into Antwerp seeing the potential in the export of diamonds. In 1956, he launched Gembel NV, a company that pioneered in the rough and polished diamond industry.

Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta was born on 7 February 1907 in the city of Palanpur, India. After losing his father at the early age of 12, he joined his family business in Rangoon, Burma. Besides handling his family business, he launched another business segment of Diamond in Mumbai, a financial capital of India. Mumbai is where he also started Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust. It was his wife Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta's dream to open a medical facility offering a high standard medical treatment at affordable prices. She believed in equality of education and treatment, regardless of caste, creed, and income group. She died in 1964 leaving her esteemed presence in the lives of the people who knew her and knew that she always taught a way of living while serving the public good. Lilavati Hospital was established in 1997 with 314 beds, 12 operation theaters, 300 consultants, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), and 1,800 members of staff handling 300 in-patients and 1,500 out-patients daily.
Accreditation
NABH, or the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare, has recently provided accreditation to Lilavati Hospital for medical treatment with high standards of medication and for utilizing the latest medical machines, such as the fastest CT scanner and other medical equipment. NABH is a highly esteemed, medical accredited authority and is equivalent to JCI, HAS and the National Committee for Quality Assurance in the United States. NABH considered the level of operating for different patients, the standard of control and prevention, and the quick service of the intensive care unit as some of the key features that have matched the standards and criteria of NABH accreditation.
On receiving accreditation, the trustees Prabodh Kirtilal Mehta and Chetan Prabodh Mehta said; "It will be the great honor for the whole team of the Lilavati Hospital that makes us more strict and exact towards the standard of offering medication and treatment across the nation".
