Solutions

lifeIMAGE allows for managing exams from discs, receiving exams electronically from outside sources, integrating outside images with local systems, and sharing exams with outside physicians and patients.

Benefits of Medical Image Sharing

  • Improved Access - Access to patients’ medical imaging histories is vital for physicians and the universal viewer eliminates traditional reviewing issues.
  • Improved Patient Care - The quality of patient care is improved by clinicians sharing imaging information and collaborating real-time.
  • Reduced Costs - The cost of care is reduced by avoiding duplicate exams and excessive radiation – leading to more timely decisions.
  • Expert Consults - Expertise and specialized opinion will be routinely and remotely accessible to patients and physicians via e-Consultation.
  • RSNA Image Share Project

The Radiological Society of North America launched the "Image Share" project, which utilizes lifeIMAGE services in the program, in 2009, with the goal of giving patients control of their imaging histories (reports and images) by allowing them to manage these records as they would online banking or shopping.

lifeIMAGE provides three elements to Image Share:

    1. A clearinghouse in the cloud
    2. An Edge Server at each local radiology site
    3. A PHR to receive the images and reports

There are currently five participating medical centers - Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, UCSF Medical Center, University of Maryland Medical Center, University of Chicago Medical Center, and Mayo Clinic.
