Lichfield District Council is a non metropolitan district council, which covers the district of Lichfield in Staffordshire, England. It was formed in 1974 from Lichfield City Council and Lichfield Rural District Council. The council offices are located at the District Council House on Frog Lane (52.681180°N 1.827103°W / 52.681180; -1.827103), in the centre of Lichfield.

Lichfield District Council is amongst the top performing councils nationally. In 2004 the audit commission informed the council that they were a good council and in 2007 they confirmed that they are getting better at managing their finances.
Since 2011, Lichfield has formed part of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership along with neighbouring authorities Birmingham, Bromsgrove, Cannock Chase, East Staffordshire, Redditch, Solihull, Tamworth and Wyre Forest.

The council is majority Conservative controlled and the leader since 2010 has been Mike Wilcox, who succeeded David Smith.
Before May 2011, the second largest group was the Liberal Democrat and Independent Alliance set up after the 2007 elections. They were made up of Liberal Democrat and independent councillors.
At the 2011 elections the Conservatives retained overall control. The Liberal Democrats and Independent councillors lost all of their 7 seats at the election. Of the 56 seats, the council is divided between Conservatives (46) and Labour (10).
