Early life

Jenkins was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1996 and attended Wedge Park Primary School in Melton, Victoria. After attending Year 7 at Staughton College, he returned to Melbourne to attend Brunswick Secondary College, where his love of performing arts would develop.

Career

Jenkins trained at the Young Australian Broadway Chorus in dramatic, musical and dance capacities. His rise to prominence began in 2012 with his performance as Lysander in Brunswick Senior Theatre Company's A Midsummer Night's Stuff-Up (An adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream) opposite Elise Louey as Hermia. The show's success prompted a second production, Much Ado About Nothing, this time with Jenkins as Claudio. In the same year, Jenkins appeared in Fame: The Musical as Nick Piazza, alongside Larissa Li, Henry de Oleveira and Xavier Dupé, attracting the attention of producer Todd Abbott, who subsequently cast him and several of his colleagues in Josh Thomas' Please Like Me.

In 2014, Jenkins scored the lead role of Troy Bolton in Disney's High School Musical on Stage!, once again opposite Elise Louey, which opens later this year. He has directed an abstract psychological film, Alice, starring long-time collaborator Lucy Payne. Payne will also appear in Jenkins' current project, a biopic of Marilyn Monroe. Jenkins appeared in several of Katherine Weatherhead's highly successful Rock Eisteddfod entries, including Apocalypse, Submerged and Paradigm.
