Kerkhove has won 3 singles and 9 doubles titles on the ITF tour in her career. On 6 March 2017, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 163. On 3 April 2017, she peaked at world number 101 in the doubles rankings.

In July 2013, Kerkhove made her WTA tour main draw debut at the Swedish Open. After coming through all three qualifying rounds, she lost to Nina Bratchikova in round one. Partnering Richèl Hogenkamp, she also lost in the first round of doubles to Alexandra Dulgheru and Flavia Pennetta, who went on to become the tournament runners-up.
