Education and career
She received her Ph.D. degree at the University of California in 1969. Later on she respecialized in clinical psychology. Her principal interests include sex and gender problems.

Awards
She has been the recipient of numerous awards including Alfred Kinsey Award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (1994).
Selected publications
Dr. Tiefer has published over 150 scientific works, some of which have been translated into foreign languages.
