Leiranger is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The administrative centre of Leiranger was the village of Leines. The municipality encompassed the area around the Leinesfjorden and the islands surrounding the mouth of the fjord. The village of Leinesfjorden lies at the end of the fjord.

History

On 1 September 1900 the southern district of the municipality of Steigen was separated to become the new municipality of Ledingen. Initially, the municipality had 1,117 residents. In 1910, the name was changed to Leiranger. On 1 January 1964, the municipality was merged with Steigen and parts of Hamarøy, Kjerringøy, and Nordfold to form the new, larger municipality of Steigen. Prior to the merger, Leiranger had a population of 1,397.
