In 1944 my father Squadron Quartermaster John Alcock landed at Audviller by parachute with twelve other British soldiers of the SAS regiment. He put explosives on the railway line near Kapplekinger and blew up a small German troop train. He also killed some enemy at a place called Koecking. Two fifteen year old girls were shot at Koecking by the Germans because they had given him food and drinks. On October the 1st he passed into the American lines near Arracourt. My family is grateful for all the local help your people gave to him. He died in 1997 after visiting Audviller in 1982 with me. Graham Alcock his son.
