The entire album was arranged and conducted by Rupert Holmes, who also wrote four of its songs. Holmes, later to be known for his #1 pop hit "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" and his multiple Tony-award winning musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood, co-produced "Lazy Afternoon" with engineer Jeffrey Lesser.

A promotional 12" single of "Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over)" was released in 1975, marking Streisand's first release in this format and her first excursion into the disco market. "Lazy Afternoon" was also separately mixed, mastered and released in a Quadraphonic version, the last "Quad" Streisand album in this vinyl format.
