Lawrence E. Simmons (July 5, 1911 – October 9, 1994) was an American football coach. He was the tenth head football coach at Tennessee A&I State College—now known as Tennessee State University—in Nashville, Tennessee and he held that position for the 1940 season, a season where Tennessee A&I State played only one game. Simmons returned as the 13th head football coach, staying for two seasons, from 1961 until 1962. His career coaching record at Tennessee A&I State was 6–11–2.

Simmons and his wife Mildred celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1968. He and his wife are interred alongside each other at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Missouri.
