Renovation and expansion
On November 2, 2010 Lawrence voters approved a project to expand and renovate the existing library at 707 Vermont Street. The $19M plan encourages portions of the library to be seen from Vermont Street in addition to a 250-space parking garage. It was completed in July 2014. During construction, the library was temporarily housed in the former Borders Books location at 700 New Hampshire Street.
