Major League Baseball Western Operations


Laurel Prieb, the husband of Wendy Selig-Prieb, son-in-law of former Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig, is Vice-President of Special Projects for Major League Baseball. Prieb has been in Major League Baseball for almost forty years. Prior to his current position, he was Vice-President, Western Operations and Special Projects for MLB (2005-2015), in Phoenix, Arizona. In that role, he maintained communication with MLB's ten most western clubs, monitoring their opportunities and issues, and employing measures to enhance best practices of the clubs.

Prieb was with the Milwaukee Brewers for fourteen years (1991-2004), most recently as the club's Vice-President of Corporate Affairs, overseeing the areas of corporate sales, broadcasting, public relations, community relations, publications and the club's internet activities.

Prieb began his career with the Minnesota Twins, from 1977 to 1991. He was in the Twins' public relations department for seven years before coordinating the Major League All-Star Game (at the Metrodome) in 1985, then traveling secretary for the club for three years (including the 1987 World Championship team) before cecoming the club's Director of Marketing and Broadcasting from 1989 to 1991.

He gained his initial sports experience by interning with the Boston Celtics in 1976-77 while working on his business degree at Augustana College (Sioux Falls), where he graduated in 1977.
