Laura Tohe Laura Tohe (born 1952) is a Native American author. She wrote poetry and stories. Her writing can be found in New Letters, World Literature Today, and others. Making Friends with Water, her chapbook of poetry, was translated into modern dance and music.

Tohe earned a B.A in psychology from the University of New Mexico, she also has a M.A and Ph.D. in English from the University of Nebraska. She writes essays, stories, and children’s plays that have appeared in the U.S. Canada and Europe.She has received numerous Arizona-based awards and in 2012 wrote a book on code talkers.
