Latin American Federation of the Society of Jesus (FLACSI) promotes the Ignatian model in the network of schools and organizations of the Society of Jesus in the Latin America and Caribbean area.

Contents

The federation includes 90 schools spread across Latin America, the oldest being Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé in Bogotá, Colombia, and the most recent the Colegio La Mission in Chile. This network of Jesuit schools is part of the "Education Sector" of the Society of Jesus in Latin America, along with the international organizations Fe y Alegría and the Association of Universities Entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America (AUSJAL), all being dependent on the Conference of Provincials for Latin America (CPAL).

In its work FLACSI is related to educational institutions and beyond, as with its link with the SM Group, Techo, Jesuit Refugee Service, AUSJAL, and the alumni association ASIA.

The non-profit FLACSI along with CPAL were founded in 2001. Its president in 2016, Hugo Alexis Moreno Rojas, S.J., is also rector of the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé, Bogota, Colombia.

Mission

The mission of the Society of Jesus in Latin America and the Caribbean is to announce the person of Jesus Christ animated by the power of the Spirit, to witness to the values of the reign of the Father through the Church and in collaboration with others.

Our institutional mission, the Apostolic Plan of CPAL is to recognize the call to manifest the presence of God in our history, standing alongside the poorest and most excluded, promoting the faith that does justice, collaborating in training and education especially of youth, promoting intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, and committing to Latin American and Caribbean integration.

FLACSI is an interprovincial network of the Jesuits in Latin America consisting of Provincial Associations of educational institutions in the pre-secondary and secondary levels in various forms.

Vision

We constitute a dynamic organization focused on results, promoting the integration and strengthening of member associations, generating, from a shared identity as an Ignatian apostolic body, policies, strategies, and actions to serve the educational and social transformation of our Latin American countries.

Our schools manifest the apostolic mission of the Society of Jesus, to form men and women for and with others through comprehensive training for excellence. Our educational communities are friendly to the environment; our students, teachers, and educational communities are to live in harmony, to identify deeply with Ignatian spirituality, and to share a political vision of social action linked to love.

Graduates of these schools should be men and women with a clear sense of mission as a part of an international apostolic body, seeing diversity and multiculturalism as a source of wealth and opportunity to make this world a more just and equitable place, thereby realizing God's plan for humankind.
