Lasantha Abeywickrama (born January 27, 1963 in Colombo, Sri Lanka) is a prominent business consultant in Sri Lanka. He is currently the managing director of DiventarsTraining and Symbiosis Business Partners. In 2001 and 2002 he was the chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in Sri-Lanka, and he has contributed to a large number of consulting and training programs for local and foreign companies.

Early life and education

Abeywickrama is a graduate of University of Colombo, in Sri Lanka, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree. He acquired an MBA from the Kogod School of Business, The American University, Washington DC, where he served as a graduate fellow of the Marketing Department. He is also a chartered marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

Career

Abeywickrama has contributed to many marketing related roles in some leading Sri Lankan organizations. He was the managing director of Procter & Gamble/Hemas Distribution Operations, marketing director of Hemas Marketing, brand manager responsible for the Kraft brand in Sri Lanka, and senior brand manager for Sara Lee Household & Body Care in Melbourne, Australia, where he won the Prestigious Marketer of the Year Award in recognition of his performance. He was responsible for the successful launching and development of many popular consumer brands in Sri Lanka, including Clogard, Baby Cheramy, Pro-Sport and Kumarika.
