Lawrence "Larry" Wade is a fictional character who appears in comic books published by DC Comics and a supporting character of Static/Virgil Hawkins. Created by writers Dwayne McDuffie and Robert L. Washington III, and artist John Paul Leon, Larry first appeared in Static #1 (June 1993), one of the titles published by Milestone Comics, an imprint of DC Comics. After the closing of Milestone Comics, Larry became part of DC's mainstream universe of characters. He was also featured on the Static Shock TV series from the DCAU, and was voiced by Omar Gooding.

Milestone & DC Universes
Larry Wade is one of Virgil Hawkins close friends. He attends Ernest Hemingway High School same as Virgil, with Daisy Watkins, Frieda Goren & Rick Stone. Like most of the series regulars Larry doesn't know that Virgil is secretly the superhero known as 'Static'.
Throughout the original comic series of Static, Larry was one of Virgil's closest friends, Wade is tougher and older than Hawkins and has looked out for him when he was being bullied, Larry was also a gang leader, who watched over Virgil when he got into fights against people like Martin "Biz Money B" Scaponi.
Larry and Virgil cared for each other but their friendship became strained as Larry would prove to be bad influence on Virgil. He would cause some conflict with Virgil when he asked out and started dating his friend Freida Goren' who Virgil had feelings for, Larry also dated Virgil's ex-girlfriend Daisy Watkins, making his friendship with Virgil more difficult. Larry almost convinced Virgil to take the life of the classmate bullying him at school, and trying to join him in being a drug dealer to make some money too.
Wade would not survive the comic book run of Static as he was gunned down by his own drug suppliers in Static #30' December 1, 1995. At that point Virgil realized that despite all they had been through, Wade was in fact a true friend to him. A week after Larry's funeral, Virgil pays his respects to him and was considering giving up his heroics, but then his wounded ally "Dusk" walks up behind him. She says that he can't quit being Static, and renews Virgil's confidence.

There's no appearance of Larry Wade in the New 52.
Other Versions
DCAU
Larry made an appearance in Season 1 of Static Shock in the first episode, "Shock to the System". He is only called Wade instead of Larry Wade. Wade attempted to get Virgil to join his gang. Giving him a gun and telling him to join at the city docks, Wade was going to help Virgil stand up to his problems with Francis "F-Stop" Stone who became 'Hotstreak'. That night the “ Big Bang” accident happened; what 'Bang Baby' Wade became is unknown, or if he even survived that night.
