The film highlights the unnoticed illegal human trafficking for sex trade in the UK. Lalit says "The idea of making of "Leeches " came across in his mind when he visited Mumbai, India some years ago. There he noticed many young girls/women are being forced into prostitution, sold to sexual slavery. He furthers says "When I moved to United Kingdom, I thought sexual slavery wouldn't exists in the Western countries but shockingly I heard the horrific stories of young western girls too being trafficked & sold to sexual slavery. The situation and circumstances were different but problem was similar in the West too. The western girls are being lured by promises of love, excitement, deception, groomed, drugs and alcohol and eventually they are forced into sex trade.' He added "I felt I had to do something to raise awareness on this serious issue here in the UK". After spending 4–5 months on finalizing script of the film, he finally teamed up with 28 hard working creative Cast and Crew from UK and Europe made the Short Film Leeches. According to Lalit. his intention behind The film was to raise awareness about the issue of Human Trafficking in the UK, he emphasis that "it's not just a third world issue. Human Trafficking is happening in here in the UK too and it is a serious crime and a violation of Human Rights. He hopes that this film may contribute to educating and preventing human trafficking thus bringing about psychological change in the Human Traffickers."
