Law regarding same-sex sexual activity

Same-sex sexual activities was legalised in Akrotiri and Dhekelia in 2000. In 2003, the age of consent was equalised for same-sex sexual activities.

Same-sex relationship recognition

Akrotiri and Dhekelia have both same-sex marriage and civil partnerships available under Order in Council of the UK since 3 June 2014 and 7 December 2005, respectively. A male same-sex couple were married in Dhekelia on 9 October 2016.

Discrimination protections

The territory prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation in employment since 1 March 2013. Since 1 February 2016, the local Criminal Code criminalises incitement to violence on the ground of sexual orientation.
