L-3 Link Simulation & Training UK (L-3 Link UK) is a manufacturer of civil flight simulators based in Crawley, England. It is a subsidiary of American simulator manufacturer L-3 Link Simulation & Training, itself part of L-3 Communications, and was formed in 2012, when L-3 acquired the civil fixed-wing simulation division of Thales Training & Simulation (TTS).

History

L-3 Link UK was in fact incorporated in 2006 as "L-3 Communications Group Limited", acting as holding company for the L-3 group in the United Kingdom. In 2012, when TTS was partially acquired, the company's name was changed to "L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training UK Limited".

The two companies, L-3 Link UK and TTS, are co-located on the same site in Manor Royal, Crawley, and share the same ancestry, rooted in the US simulation business created by Ed Link in the 1930s and the British simulator manufacturer Redifon (later Rediffusion).

Products and services

L-3 Link UK's core product is the RealitySeven line of full flight simulators, which covers a wide range of aircraft types, from the regional turboprop ATR 72, to wide-bodies Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

Beside manufacturing, the company also offers flight training services directly, both through the controlled Asian Aviation Training Center in Bangkok, Thailand – which was acquired as part of the TTS deal – and also in-house, in partnership with L-3 CTC, the L-3 subsidiary created in 2015 with the acquisition of British training provider CTC Aviation.
