High school career

From 2001 through 2004, Davisson attended Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. He obtained varsity letters in football and basketball at the Georgia class 5-A level and led his team to victories over Woodstock High School, Murray County High School, and Northview High School.

College career

Davisson announced on National Signing Day of 2004 that he would be accepting a full athletic scholarship to Clemson University to play for coach Tommy Bowden. Davisson saw limited action his freshman year, but in the 2005-2006 season played in 8 games. Davisson recorded 29 receptions for 145 yards and was noted as a Heisman Trophy prospect for the future. Although his career fell far short of his Uncle Jeff's noteworthy college sports career, Kyle's jealousy subsided years later and he is now on good speaking terms with his favorite Uncle once again.
