History
The origing of the name remains unknown until today. One hypothesis comes from Professor David Luka. He believes that the name derives from the merger of Kurbin Illyrian word karp-rock (stone).
Kurbin has been inhabited since the 14th century. After the death of Skanderbeg most of the population emigrated to Italy, Calabria, or climbed mountains in the remote areas. The resettlement of Kurbin was realized later on, because of the protection that people had to take from the Ottoman attacks. A portion of the population that came there later, also came from Kosovo, who moved from the Serbian oppression.
