Kraczkowa

Location

Kraczkowa has a convenient location. It is situated between two cities, Rzeszów - the capital of Subcarpathia province and Łańcut. Moreover, it’s located on the European route (E40). Except the main part, Kraczkowa has also hamlets such as: Tłoki, Budy Kraczkowskie, Działy Wschodnie, Działy Zachodnie. Many years ago, Cierpisz, which now constitutes a separate village, belonged to Kraczkowa as well.

History

Village was established under German law and founded by Otto of Pilica in 1369 as a New Village. Kraczkowa belonged to many families such as Pileccy, Korniaktowie or Potoccy.
- Here in Kraczkowa, was born a Member of Viennese Parliament – Tomasz Szajer
- the "Declaration of Rights of Young Generation" was signed here in 1936.
- Kraczkowa was a thriving center, of the peasant movement ( ruch ludowy) that was emerging in Galicia at the time.

Interesting Places in Kraczkowa

Cross on the Kraczkowskie Błonia The first wooden cross was built in 1901 and was consecrated by a priest Stojałowski. The cross is the mediator between God and people. It protects crops and farms from all disasters. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during World War II. New Cross on the Kraczkowskie Błonia was founded by "Solidarność" in the anniversary of "sierpień 1980" in 1981.

Stations of the Cross on “Zimna Góra” Zimna Góra is a hill (238 m), situated on Kraczkowa and Cierpisz border. To Zimna Góra leads the way from Kraczkowa, this road was used by people from Cierpisz to get to church in Kraczkowa. To celebrate the effort which was inserted by the people who used this rout, in 1988 the Stations of the Cross were located along the road. At the top of the hill there is a shrine.

Church in Kraczkowa Church of St. Nicholas in Kraczkowa was built in the years 1911-1913, as a Neo-Gothic temple with elements of Neo-Romanesque. It has wooden equipment and murals (wall paintings). In the church there are also priceless memorabilia associated with John Paul II. The main and most famous memorial is the Cross that John Paul II hold during the memorable Good Friday service in 2005, thanks to it, and all the relics of Pope John Paul II, there have been many miracles. Except the church, the papal souvenirs are also in the School of Kraczkowa which was named to honor John Paul II.

Valley of Divine Mercy in Kraczkowa Initiator and originator of the project was Janina Peszko. The intention of building the Valley was to thank God for the graces received and the triumph of the Divine Mercy in the Parish Kraczkowa. Valley consists of several figures of saints, the chapel and the Stations of the Cross. It is a place of prayer, silence and meditation for everyone.

Cycle rout in Kraczkowa

Shrines and crosses trail in Kraczkowa: Grunwald - Hill Magdalenka - Cierpisz – Grunwald Cycle rout has 15.5 kilometers. It starts and ends next to the monument of Grunwald Glory in Kraczkowa. The rout is divided into 4 sections of varying difficulty. It includes 20 historic shrines, 4 crosses, historic 300-year-old oaks, a church dedicated to Mary Magdalene, agritourism farms, cultural centers and viewpoints.
