Kotsunagi Station has two opposed side platforms connected to the station building by an overhead crossing. The station is staffed.

History

The Kotsunagi Watering Stop (小繋給水所) for steam locomotives was established on 31 December 1904. It was elevated to a full passenger station on 21 September 1909. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987 and was transferred to the Iwate Ginga Railway on 1 September 2002.
