Konidena

Konidena is a small village in Ballikurava mandal and Prakasam district of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is around 60 km from Guntur and 20 km from Narasaraopet, capital of the Konidena Chola kingdom who once ruled parts of Palnadu region, though neither the village nor its surrounding areas show any such signs. The ancient Konidena was present around the hill present in Konidena. As time passed it moved to north-east of the hill.

It is famous for its 1,00,00,001 statues and 101 wells in ancient days. It is 7 km far from the national highway No.5. Martur is the village present on the highway. At the time of the Kakatiya Cholas (the ruling caste of the Chola kingdom, as Konidena was its headquarters), soldiers would change their duty at this Martur (in Telugu maruta=change, ooru=village or any living place).

Temples

As we entered into the village we first encounter with Lord Anjaneya Temple. Before entering into the temple, people first pray to the god Vighneshwara. If we go straight forward from the Anjaneya Temple we can see Lord Shiva Temple. In the same temple environment we encounter the goddess Bhramarambika Alayam (temple), and Lord Venugopala Alayam. After coming out, take a right then take a right again to reach Lord Chennakeshava Temple.
